SIGN ORDINANCE/RESTRICTIONS - Yes. For Open House signs: Only 2 signs are permitted per intersection pointing in opposite directions and not on the same corner. Signs are permitted from 1:00 - 5:00 on weekends. Signs are not permitted on streets, sidewalks or medians. Name of the broker or agent must be on the back of the sign; signs cannot be more than 2'x1.5' with an overall height of 3 feet. For more information or a copy of the ordinance, call (510) 494-4456.

SPECIAL STUDY ZONE - Yes

SPECIAL DISCLOSURE ISSUES –Certain areas within the city of Fremont are designated as historic areas and may be subject to review by the Historic Architectural Review Board (HARB).  Some restrictions may apply as to exterior renovation or demolition of buildings with this designation. For more information contact the Planning Department at 494-4440.

CITY TAXES, BONDS, OR ASSESSMENTS – There are some city assessments that are determined by assessor’s parcel number. These may include, but are not limited to lighting and landscaping assessment, fire assessment, Emergency medical service assessment, clean water assessment, etc… To check on the specific assessments for a property, call-494-4793.

RENT CONTROL - None. However, Fremont does have a Residential Rent Increase Dispute Resolution. Notice of rent increase shall be a 60 day notice, in writing. There is a very specific process that must be followed. For more information and a copy of the ordinance, contact the City of Fremont Housing Department, (510) 494-4500.

LANDLORD RESPONSIBILITY - On multi-unit buildings of 10 units or more that have an inner hallway, buildings need to be retrofitted with a sprinkler system. (City Ordinance 2140)
